Retail And Garden Centre Proposal Submitted For Coleraine Site

Plans for a retail development in Coleraine, with an external garden centre and up to two additional shops or restaurants, have moved a step forward.

Magmel (Ballymena) Limited submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council this week for land at Riverside Retail Park.

The site lies south and east of Riverside Park North and west of Riverside Park South.

The proposal includes one retail unit with an external garden centre, plus up to two additional retail and/or restaurant units, for a maximum of three units.

The proposal also includes an associated servicing area, changes to existing car parking arrangements, landscaping, and other site works.

Last month, Explore Causeway Coast & Glens exclusively revealed that The Range was in the early stages of securing a site and preparing a planning application for a new store at Riverside Retail Park.

The notice does not name the proposed occupiers. It sets out plans for public consultation ahead of a planning application and does not represent planning approval.

Public consultation

A public information event is scheduled for Coleraine West Community Centre, 40 The Rope Walk, on Thursday 3 December 2026 at 3pm.

A consultation website, www.riversideretailconsultation.com, is due to go live on 26 November, when the public notice is scheduled to be published.

The website will include a live chat function and an online feedback form, with consultation materials available for at least 28 days.

The website and project email address, [email protected], will also promote a consultation phone line and project email address, [email protected].

Leaflets containing a freepost feedback form are to be delivered to properties within 500 metres of the site.

Hard copies of the consultation materials will be available by post for anyone unable to access them digitally.
