Top Blade Brings Its Signature Steak Experience To Portrush

Northern Ireland’s favourite steakhouse, Top Blade, is heading to the North Coast, bringing its signature bold flavours and sizzling reputation to Portrush just in time for the busy summer season and the return of The Open at Royal Portrush this July.

With a £350,000 investment, the new seafront restaurant will create 20 jobs in the local hospitality sector and mark Top Blade’s third location, joining its popular venues in Belfast and Portadown.

Set to take over the high-profile site currently occupied by Koko, the space will undergo a full transformation to deliver the distinctive Top Blade dining experience: premium, locally sourced steaks served with simplicity, flair, and a no-fuss attitude (but definitely not well done!).

With seating for 70 and uninterrupted views of the Atlantic, the Portrush venue is poised to become a standout destination for locals and visitors alike.

“We’ve had our eye on the North Coast for a while,” says Director Aaron Taggart. “We were just waiting for the right location – and this is it. The timing couldn’t be better with a bustling tourist season ahead and The Open returning. We’re excited to create something truly special – not just in terms of food, but the setting too. A seafront steakhouse like this is a rare opportunity.”

He added that existing Koko staff will be retained where possible, with a new team being built to deliver the full Top Blade experience.

Fellow Director John Crawford added:
“This is a big step for us, and we’re thinking big. With Portrush, we aim to serve up to 100,000 steaks a year across our three locations. Our focus has always been on doing great steaks and sides exceptionally well, and we believe Portrush is the perfect place to grow our brand.”

With thousands expected to visit the town for The Open and a host of new venues energising the local dining scene, Top Blade’s arrival feels perfectly timed, and it’s set to be a major player on the North Coast’s culinary map.

Bookings are not yet open, but demand is expected to be high once tables are released.
