The Honourable The Irish Society Seeks Chief Executive
Nov 01, 2026
A charity with more than 400 years of history in Northern Ireland is recruiting a chief executive to lead its work supporting communities across the North West and north coast.
The Honourable The Irish Society is offering a salary of approximately £65,000, subject to experience, for the Coleraine-based position. Applications close at noon on Tuesday 1 December 2026.
The Society, one of the UK’s oldest charitable bodies, is an endowed charity, property and fishery owner and grant-maker, with a longstanding involvement in education and community life.
Its strategic focus is on people, place and heritage, with work spanning early years, reconciliation, culture and heritage, and waterways and stewardship.
Alongside providing grants, the organisation shares knowledge and supports community-led activity. It says its approach reflects a belief that communities understand their own needs best.
The new chief executive will work closely with trustees and partners to develop the Society’s contribution to the region, oversee its assets and manage day-to-day activities and capital projects.
The organisation is seeking someone who can combine strategic ambition with practical delivery, bringing sound judgement, curiosity and the ability to build relationships.
The appointment comes with a focus on turning the charity’s resources and longstanding connections into lasting benefits for communities.
An information pack is available from the Engage Executive Talent website. Applicants must submit a CV of no more than three pages, a completed Supplementary Questions form and an Equal Opportunities form to [email protected] by the deadline.
For a confidential discussion about the role, contact Patrick Minne at [email protected] or on 07792 509003.
