The Food Warehouse Confirms Opening Date For Coleraine Store

The Food Warehouse is set to open a new store at Coleraine Riverside Retail Park on 24 March 2026, Explore Causeway Coast & Glens can exclusively reveal.

The retailer will occupy the former Argos unit at the Riverside Retail Park, with planning permission for the store approved on 23 October 2025.

Explore Causeway Coast & Glens previously revealed last year that The Food Warehouse was assessing the retail park as a potential location.

Introduced in 2014, The Food Warehouse offers a warehouse-style shopping experience, with stores typically around twice the size of a standard Iceland branch. The format features wider aisles and a broader product range, with larger pack sizes to offer increased value to customers.

Welcoming the announcement, Maurice Bradley MLA said the development was positive news for the Coleraine area.

“Any news of job creation within the Coleraine area is very welcome,” he said.
“This unit at Riverside has been vacant for a long time, so it will be great to see it filled.
“The Food Warehouse is a great addition to Coleraine, and I have no doubt it will offer locals and visitors more choice, while strengthening our local retail offering.”

Local Councillor Tanya Elder also expressed her delight at the news.
“I am absolutely delighted to see The Food Warehouse coming to Coleraine,” she said.
“This is a very positive development for the Riverside Retail Park and for the wider area. Bringing a well-known retailer into a long vacant unit will boost confidence, create jobs and provide more choice and value for local families.”
