Royal Portrush Appoints New General Manager
Nov 27, 2024In preparation for hosting the 153rd Open Championship next year, Royal Portrush Golf Club has unveiled its new General Manager. Danny Campbell will take the reins on December 2nd, succeeding John Lawler, who has moved on to a similar role at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon.
Campbell brings extensive experience to the prestigious County Antrim club, having served as Commercial Director of the St Andrews Links Trust from 1999 to 2023.
During his tenure, he oversaw the iconic golfing destination’s operations, catering to over 3,000 local club members and countless visitors from around the globe.
Currently Chairman of St. Leonards School in St Andrews—home to a renowned golfing academy for young players—Campbell also arrives with an impressive record in championship organisation.
He collaborated closely with The R&A on agreements to host four Open Championships at St Andrews, alongside the Senior Open, the Walker Cup, and three Women’s Open Championships.
A keen golfer with a four handicap, Campbell's appointment signals a strong future for Royal Portrush as it gears up to welcome the world’s best golfers for the historic championship.
