Roe Valley Speciality Market

Limavady town centre will once again welcome the Roe Valley Speciality Market on Saturday 16th May, as local small businesses, creatives, artists and food producers gather at Drumceatt Square for another day celebrating independent business, creativity and community connection.

Running from 11am to 4pm beside the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, the market offers visitors the chance to explore artisan food, handmade gifts, natural products, artwork and speciality goods while meeting the people behind the products in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Delivered by NNCG, the Roe Valley Speciality Market is about much more than shopping. As part of a wider programme of markets, it supports local makers, food producers and independent businesses from across Northern Ireland.

Visitors can expect a vibrant mix of local flavour and creativity, including handmade jewellery, artisan breads and sweet treats, home fragrances, skincare products, pet treats, artwork, crafts and unique gifts, all created by independent traders from across the region.

Located in the heart of Limavady town centre, Drumceatt Square provides the perfect base for a family day out, with local shops, cafés and the arts centre all within walking distance. The market is free to attend and dog friendly, helping create an accessible and inclusive atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.

Shauna McFall from NNCG said:

“We’re always encouraged by the response to the Roe Valley Speciality Market. Visitors really value the variety of products on offer and the opportunity to meet the small producers, makers and bakers behind them. That direct connection is something people genuinely enjoy, and it makes a real difference to the businesses taking part.

“The market also brings a fantastic atmosphere to Limavady, with increased footfall throughout the town whenever it is on. Drumceatt Square, beside the Roe Valley Arts Centre, is such a picturesque setting for a market, and it creates a lovely space for people to come together, shop local and spend time in the town.

“We would encourage everyone to come along and support the market on Saturday 16th May and help continue supporting small businesses and local producers.”

The market also continues to play an important role in supporting town centre vibrancy and encouraging people to shop locally, with increased footfall demonstrated by the town’s footfall counters benefiting surrounding businesses throughout the day.

Among the traders attending this month’s market are a number of small independent businesses who use markets as a platform to grow their business, reach new customers and turn creative passions into sustainable income.

Kerona from Doganic Barkery, who makes handmade dog treats, said:

“Trading at the Roe Valley Speciality Market has really helped me grow my business and build up a loyal customer base within my local area. Having that direct interaction with customers is so important, as people love being able to chat face-to-face, hear the story behind the products and support small local businesses directly.

“I always enjoy getting out to the market. There’s such a lovely atmosphere, with a great mix of local traders, visitors and regular customers, and it’s become a place where I’ve built genuine connections over time. It’s also fantastic that the market is dog-friendly, which is obviously a bonus for my healthy dog treat business.

“It’s one of the markets I always look forward to attending, and I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t visited before to come along and experience it for themselves.”

“We always love trading at the Roe Valley Speciality Market. It has such a wonderful atmosphere, with lovely friendly people and a real sense of community, which makes it one of our favourite markets to attend throughout the year.

“The market is a fantastic opportunity to meet customers face-to-face, introduce people to our products and be part of a great mix of local traders and producers. We’re especially excited to be bringing our new crepes along this Saturday, including dairy-free and gluten-free options, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

The Roe Valley Speciality Market is one of a series of markets delivered throughout the year. Anyone interested in starting their own business or using markets as a tool to build a customer base can find more information about trading opportunities through the NNCG website.
