More than 200,000 people travelled with Translink during The 153rd Open Championship week, as golf fans, volunteers, and event staff embraced public transport to experience the world-class event in Portrush.

From 13–20 July, Translink’s bus, coach, and train services saw unprecedented demand, with thousands making use of The Open Park & Ride service and enhanced public transport options.

Chris Conway, Translink Group Chief Executive, said: "This week has been the culmination of months of intensive preparation right across the business. A huge thank you to all our employees, partner agencies, volunteers and customers for their support during this major transport operation.

"Every available bus, coach and train was used to deliver the multi-agency transport plan providing journeys for spectators, volunteers and others working at the event while also maintaining normal services for our regular customers and even hosting our in-station fan zone to add to the golf celebrations.

"We were pleased to once again play our crucial role in keeping everyone better connected, ensuring hundreds of thousands of people enjoyed this world-class Championship and showcasing the Causeway Coast and Northern Ireland to visitors from all across the world." said Chris.
