Proposed Apartment Development For Vacant Portrush Site

Plans have been submitted for a new apartment development on a long-vacant site at 3–5 Lansdowne Crescent in Portrush.

The proposal seeks approval for 12 apartments, along with new access arrangements and shared amenity space. It represents a revision to an earlier approved scheme for 13 apartments on the same site.

Planning documents describe the site as a brownfield gap within an established terrace of buildings that has remained undeveloped for several years since demolition. It is noted as a visually prominent gap within an otherwise continuous streetscape.

The design is intended to reflect the surrounding architecture, with materials and proportions aligned to neighbouring properties. According to the submitted Design Concept Statement, the scheme has been developed to respect the existing building line, scale and character of Lansdowne Crescent.

The site falls within Portrush’s designated Area of Townscape Character, meaning any proposal must preserve or enhance the appearance of the area. Supporting documents state that the development has been designed with this in mind while also addressing the site's long-standing vacancy.

If approved, the scheme would introduce new residential accommodation to address what has been described as a long-standing gap in the streetscape.

The applicant is PRH Construction Ltd.
