Portrush Land Train Plan Rejected By Council Committee
Apr 23, 2025
A proposal by Codona’s Funfair to operate a land train in Portrush over the summer has been rejected by the Land and Property Sub-Committee.
The application sought permission to run the service from April to September 2025, covering weekends, school holidays and bank holidays. The route included Kerr Street, Main Street, and Lansdowne Crescent.
Alderman Fielding raised concerns about increased traffic and pedestrian safety during the busy tourist season. The committee agreed to recommend refusal, with support from Councillor McCully.
Codona’s previously ran the Santa’s Magical Express in Portrush at Christmas, which received some negative reviews.
Additionally, it has been highlighted locally that at least one business has not been paid for services provided during that event.
The business will be ratified by full council.
