Plans Submitted To Reopen Ballymoney Nursing Home
Nov 06, 2026
Macklin Care Homes has applied for planning permission to extend and modernise a Ballymoney nursing home as part of plans to reopen it.
The building at 1A Queens Avenue, previously known as The Court, would have 46 single bedrooms under the proposals. That would retain its previously registered capacity of 46 residents. The existing building has 41 bedrooms, five of which are doubles.
According to a planning statement prepared by MBA Planning for the applicant, the refurbishment would include an improved kitchen, communal areas and day rooms.
The application proposes two-storey extensions to the north and east of the building, along with a link between its eastern and western wings.
The planning statement says the link would create a continuous route around the building, removing dead-end corridors and making it easier for residents with dementia to find their way around.
The existing entrance on Queens Avenue would be retained and 30 parking spaces provided. The plans also include new trees and hedging along the frontage, with the three existing trees on the site retained.
