Plans Submitted For Two New Poultry Units Near Aghadowey
Feb 24, 2026
Plans for two new broiler units capable of housing up to 78,000 chickens have been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
The application relates to land approximately 73 metres south-west of Landmore House, at 126 Agivey Road, Aghadowey.
Full planning permission is being sought for a proposed new broiler site comprising two poultry houses, along with associated infrastructure, including a concrete turning apron, retaining wall, ancillary building, general-purpose storage building, meal bins, swale drainage, photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the broiler houses, and 50kW battery storage. Access to the site would be taken from Agivey Road.
According to a supporting planning statement, the land is currently in use as an existing grazing field of improved grassland.
The statement adds that the site lies to the west of the existing farm cluster and is largely obscured from Agivey Road by surrounding agricultural buildings, limiting its visibility from the public road.
