Plans Submitted For Temporary School Meals Facility At Culcrow Primary

Proposals have been lodged on 3rd December 2025 for a temporary modular school meals unit at Culcrow Primary School in Aghadowey, as the Education Authority seeks to address what it describes as a “critical” shortfall in compliant catering provision.

The application outlines the installation of a 133-square-metre modular building on an existing hardstanding area at the school’s Curragh Road site. According to the supporting planning statement, the current servery and dining facilities fall short of statutory food-safety standards, prompting the need for a temporary solution while a permanent upgrade is developed.

The proposed unit would remain in place for up to five years and be connected to existing school utilities. No changes are planned to access routes or parking arrangements, and the Education Authority says the location has been chosen to avoid disruption to school operations.
