Plans For Outdoor Music Event In Portrush Withdrawn

Organisers have withdrawn plans for a multi-day outdoor music event in Portrush, citing the possibility of another major event taking place at the same time and the financial commitment involved.

The proposal, which emerged last month, would have seen East Strand Car Park host a two- or three-day outdoor live music concert in June 2027.

However, minutes of the council’s Land and Property and Strategic Assets Sub-Committee meeting this month record that ORW Productions subsequently advised it did not wish to pursue the request.

The Strategic Assets Manager told members the decision reflected the potential for another key event taking place at that time, alongside the financial commitment involved.

Members were also advised that valuation details relating to the proposed use of the land were now available.

The chair described the decision as disappointing but said the reasons behind it were understood.

Councillor McCully sought further information about the other potential event referred to by the organisers.

In response, the Strategic Assets Manager said any such event would be subject to due diligence when considered by the council.

Members were told there was no further information available to them at that stage. The minutes did not identify the other potential event.
