Planning Approved For New Social Housing Development In Coleraine

A social housing scheme in Coleraine has taken a step forward after planning permission was officially granted today, 13 November 2025.

The approved plans allow for the construction of 36 social housing units, including 27 apartments and 9 duplex apartments, across two new residential blocks on New Market Street.

The development also includes the retention of an existing pedestrian connection, the creation of a small landscaped pocket park, and a series of associated improvement works spanning numbers 6 to 12 New Market Street and the adjoining land towards number 26.

In recent weeks, demolition work has taken place on the site, clearing several older structures to make way for the redevelopment. This activity has marked the beginning of a long-anticipated regeneration effort in an area that has seen limited investment in recent years.
