Planning Approval Granted for Causeway Hospital Car Park Extension
Jun 02, 2026Planning permission has been granted for an extension to the existing car parking facilities at Causeway Hospital.
The approved development will provide additional parking spaces, along with associated drainage and hard and soft landscaping works.
Planning documents submitted with the application stated that the proposal was brought forward to address parking pressures at the hospital site, where parking demand regularly exceeds the number of available spaces. The documents noted that all formal parking spaces can be occupied during peak periods, resulting in vehicles parking on internal roads, verges and other areas not intended for parking.
The planning statement also highlighted concerns regarding road safety, emergency access and conflicts between vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists caused by informal parking within the hospital grounds.
According to the submission, the additional parking is intended to improve access for patients, visitors and staff, while supporting the safe and efficient operation of the hospital. The proposal also includes landscaping and drainage measures, along with provision for future electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The application was approved by planners, allowing the development to proceed at the Newbridge Road hospital site.
