Permanent Joey Dunlop Exhibition Proposal To Go Before Council Committee

A proposal to create a permanent exhibition honouring motorcycling legend Joey Dunlop is set to go before councillors in Ballymoney next week.

The motion, brought forward by Alderman McAuley and seconded by Councillor Storey, follows the success of the Joey Dunlop 25 Celebration, which attracted thousands of fans from across the world earlier this year.

Mr Dunlop, who received both the OBE and MBE, is remembered as one of the sport’s greatest riders as well as a Freeman of the Borough and a much-loved Ballymoney native.

If agreed by the Leisure and Development Committee and ratified at full Council, council officers would begin working with the Dunlop family to explore options for a permanent exhibition of memorabilia, designed to reflect his life, legacy and memory.
