Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is being asked to approve the recruitment of a new Assistant Operations General Manager.

A report due before the Environmental Services Committee on 9th June recommends the creation of the post, which would support the delivery of frontline operational services across the borough.
According to the report, the council's Operations Department is responsible for waste collection, waste disposal, street cleansing and the provision of public conveniences. These services are delivered on a year-round, daily basis.

The report states that around 240 staff are employed within the Operations function, which has an annual expenditure budget of approximately £23 million.

The proposed Assistant Operations General Manager would report directly to the Operations General Manager and assist with the day-to-day management of frontline service delivery. The role would also provide service continuity, contribute to performance improvement, support the delivery of capital projects, facilitate succession planning and improve organisational resilience.

The post is planned as a permanent position and, if approved by members, recruitment would take place during the 2026/27 financial year.

The committee is being recommended to grant permission for the recruitment of the new post.
