New Manufacturing Facility Proposed For Ballymoney

Plans have been submitted for a new manufacturing facility in Ballymoney as part of North Coast Steel's expansion. 

The proposal is for industrial-zoned land adjoining the Acorn Centre and to the north-west of Chestnut Grove, within the Riada Avenue industrial area.

According to planning documents, the development would provide a purpose-built manufacturing workshop, storage and distribution facilities, offices, staff facilities, parking, and associated works.

The planning statement states that the facility is intended to support the expansion of North Coast Steel's existing business and is located on land that forms part of the Invest NI portfolio, which is designated for economic development. 

Access would be from Riada Avenue, with the existing entrance widened to accommodate HGV movements. The plans also include landscaping, with existing boundary trees and hedges retained and additional native planting proposed to provide screening and enhance biodiversity.

A Noise Impact Assessment has also been undertaken because of the site's proximity to residential properties. Documents describe the proposed building as a steel fabrication workshop, with external steel racking, car parking and HGV parking bays.

The planning statement argues the development would support employment, increase production capacity and contribute to Ballymoney's manufacturing and engineering sector.

The application will now be considered through the planning process.
