A planning application has been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council for a new residential development on lands adjacent to 355 Seacoast Road, Bellerena, near Limavady.

The proposal, lodged by Anne Marie Donaghy, seeks permission to demolish existing farm buildings and construct 17 new homes — comprising 14 semi-detached and 3 detached two-storey dwellings — along with a foul water pump station, landscaped buffer zones, and associated car parking. A new access road onto the Seacoast Road is also included.

The site, a disused former farmyard and produce business, sits within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty under the Northern Area Plan 2016. The accompanying Design and Access Statement notes that the scheme has been “carefully designed to reflect the rural character and scenic setting,” with finishes intended to integrate with the surrounding landscape.

The applicant states that the low-density development aims to meet local housing demand, including for first-time and second-time buyers, and to support the sustainability of schools and community groups, such as the GAA, in the wider Magilligan and Bellerena area.

The council will assess the application in due course.
