Museum Services Move Expected To Bring New Energy To Coleraine’s Diamond Centre
Nov 18, 2025
The relocation of Causeway Coast and Glens Museum Services to the Diamond Centre in Coleraine is almost complete and is expected to help enliven what has been described as a “very quiet” facility.
During this evening’s meeting of the Leisure and Development Committee, Alderman Aaron Callan asked for an update on the long-running move, noting that it had not appeared in the committee report. He queried whether the process had now been finalised and when the museum service would be ready to operate from the site.
Responding, the Head of Community and Culture confirmed that the move is “around 99% complete”, with most shelving already installed and only a small number of units still to be fitted. She said design work is also advancing for the building’s front area to create a more welcoming environment, including plans for tactile displays and other engaging features aimed at drawing visitors in.
The Head of Community and Culture remarked that the Diamond Centre is currently “very quiet”, and indicated that establishing the museum service there is expected to help brighten the space and attract greater footfall. She added that staff will be working with local libraries, schoolchildren and community groups to bring activity into the building and encourage wider community use.
The move is anticipated to strengthen the museum service’s presence in Coleraine and broaden its reach across the Causeway Coast and Glens area.
