Causeway Eats

A mother-and-son team is making it easier to order from favourite local takeaways while helping independent food businesses keep more of what they earn.

Causeway Eats, a locally run food ordering and delivery app, now has more than 40 businesses on its platform, bringing together restaurants and takeaways from across the Causeway Coast and surrounding areas.

Behind the family business is a straightforward ambition: make ordering food convenient for customers and provide an affordable alternative to the large multinational ordering platforms.

With familiar names including Chequers, Ramore, Flames49, Mandarin Palace, KOKO Street Food and Slabz, the app lets customers return to their usual favourites or discover somewhere new.

Local favourites in one place

Customers can browse participating businesses, view menus, and place orders through the Causeway Eats app, choosing delivery or collection at each business.

By bringing local menus together, the team hopes to make deciding what to eat easier. Rather than checking several websites or social media pages, customers can explore their options in one place.

Causeway Eats currently serves Coleraine, Portrush, Portstewart, Ballymoney, Castlerock and surrounding areas, with a focus on building its network across the Causeway Coast and nearby towns.

Helping businesses keep more of each order

For the team behind Causeway Eats, convenience is only part of the story.

The business says it charges considerably less than the larger multinational food-ordering platforms, aiming to help independent restaurants and takeaways retain more income from the orders they receive.

That approach reflects its wider ambition to keep more spending within the local economy and support the food businesses that serve local communities.

As a mother-and-son team, the owners say they know many of the participating businesses personally and understand how important independent takeaways and restaurants are to the area.

Those relationships are central to how they want Causeway Eats to grow.

More than an ordering app

Alongside handling orders, Causeway Eats aims to give its partner businesses another way to reach local customers.

The team wants to use the platform to promote food, offers and participating businesses throughout the area, helping them gain visibility and attract more orders.

It also hopes to encourage customers to explore the variety of independent food businesses on their doorstep, alongside continuing to support the places they already know and enjoy.

With more than 40 businesses involved and plans to welcome more restaurants and takeaways, Causeway Eats is working to become a regular first stop for local food orders.

For the family behind it, the aim is simple: an app rooted in the area, where ordering a meal can also help support the businesses close to home.
