The owners of the four-star Marine Hotel Ballycastle, Claire Hunter and Colum McLornan, have officially announced the appointment of Schulte European Group as the hotel’s new management operator.

After 13 years of ownership and operation, Claire and Colum have made the strategic decision to partner with an experienced international hospitality operator to support the hotel’s next phase of growth.

The Marine Hotel Ballycastle is a B Corp-certified business – one of only two hotels in Northern Ireland to hold this distinction - reflecting its commitment to sustainability, community, and responsible hospitality. This ethos will remain central to the hotel’s future as it evolves under the new management structure.

Claire Hunter commented:

“After spending time with Vincent and the Schulte team in Ballycastle, it was clear they share our vision for the Marine Hotel. Their experience and understanding of both the local and international market make them the ideal partner to take the hotel forward while preserving its unique character.”

The hotel will continue to be led on the ground by General Manager Olga Henry, ensuring continuity for both guests and staff, while benefiting from the wider expertise, systems and international reach of Schulte European Group.

Colum McLornan added:

“We considered selling the hotel in 2025, but the opportunity to retain ownership while partnering with an experienced operator made this an easy decision. It secures the long-term future of the Marine Hotel while allowing us to focus on other business interests.”

Located on the Causeway Coast, the Marine Hotel Ballycastle is well positioned to benefit from growth in international tourism, particularly across golf, leisure, and North Coast travel markets.

The Marine Hotel Ballycastle will continue to welcome both returning and new guests throughout 2026 and beyond, offering a warm, family-friendly experience in one of Northern Ireland’s most sought-after coastal destinations.

Vincet Levy commented:

“We are proud to partner with the Marine Hotel Ballycastle at such an exciting stage in its journey. Claire and Colum have built something truly special, and we look forward to supporting the team in unlocking its full potential while preserving its strong identity and values.”

Sinn Féin Councillor Cara McShane said the announcement marks a positive step forward for Ballycastle and the wider Causeway Coast and Glens.

She said:

“This is a very welcome development for Ballycastle and the wider North Coast. The Marine Hotel has long been an important part of our local tourism offering, and Claire Hunter and Colum McLornan deserve great credit for what they have built over the past 13 years.

The decision to partner with an experienced international operator such as Schulte European Group demonstrates strong ambition and a commitment to securing the long-term future of the hotel. It is particularly encouraging to see that the values of sustainability, community, and responsible tourism, which are central to the hotel’s B Corp status, will remain at the heart of its operations.

Ballycastle continues to grow as a destination, and investments like this strengthen that position. This partnership has the potential to create further opportunities for local employment, increase visitor numbers, and deliver wider economic benefits for the area.

I wish everyone involved every success as the Marine Hotel enters this next phase.”
