Kerry Group Seeks Expansion Of Coleraine Food Plant

A major food production facility in Coleraine could be set for expansion under new plans lodged with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Kerry Group, based at 117-121 Millburn Road, has submitted a planning application seeking approval for a range of extensions and alterations to its long-established plant. The proposals include the addition of a new loading bay, expanded storage facilities, and the construction of a new plant building adjacent to the existing site.

The company also plans to extend the current tank bund to accommodate four new storage tanks and install a new silo, as part of its continued investment in the site’s operations.

Kerry Group is regarded as a major employer and key economic driver in the town. Its Coleraine facility has been the subject of several planning applications over the years, reflecting the evolving needs of its food production activities.

The latest proposals are described as consistent with the site’s current use and planning history, which has shown that such developments are generally considered acceptable.

The council will now assess the application as part of the usual planning process.
