Giant’s Causeway And Carrick-a-Rede to Close For Staff Appreciation Day
Oct 08, 2025
Two of Northern Ireland’s most iconic tourist attractions – the Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge – will close their visitor centres on Friday 10 October to give staff a well-earned break following what has been described as an “incredibly busy season”.
The National Trust, which manages both sites, announced the temporary closure as a gesture of thanks to its teams who have welcomed over 383,000 visitors to the Giant’s Causeway and around 170,000 to Carrick-a-Rede so far this year.
In a statement, the Trust said it was “beyond grateful” to all who visited during 2025, adding that the curiosity and enthusiasm of visitors had made the season “so special”.
Both attractions will reopen as normal on Saturday 11 October, with visitors encouraged to plan their trips in advance.
The Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, remains one of Northern Ireland’s most visited destinations, famed for its striking basalt columns and coastal scenery. Meanwhile, Carrick-a-Rede’s dramatic rope bridge continues to draw crowds seeking adventure and panoramic views of the North Antrim coast.
