Planners have approved a development that will see a former public bar and off-licence in Limavady converted into residential accommodation.

The application relates to 163–165 Irish Green Street and proposes a change of use to provide five one-bedroom apartments on the ground floor, along with associated parking, landscaping, boundary treatments, a bin store, and new access onto Josephine Avenue.

Approved plans also include alterations to the existing building, including the removal of two chimneys, the addition of external cladding, and changes to the internal layout. These works involve reconfiguring the former games room area on the ground floor, partial demolition of internal walls, and installing new windows and doors. A staircase will also be removed to enable the extension of an existing first-floor apartment.

The applicants are Eugene & JJ O Neill and Butcher

In a statement supporting the proposal, letting agent Easy Lets NI said the development responds to a clear and growing demand for one-bedroom apartments in Limavady.

They said the scheme has the potential to meet a significant local housing need by providing suitably sized accommodation for individuals and smaller households.
