David Andrew Radcliffe has been awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours List 2026 for services to education and to the community in Coleraine.

Mr Radcliffe is well known across the town for his long career in education, having served as principal of Harpur's Hill Primary School in Coleraine for 23 years.

The honour recognises his contribution to generations of pupils and families through his leadership in education, as well as his wider involvement in community life across the area.

Many people will also recognise Mr Radcliffe from his appearance earlier this year on the ITV quiz show Ant & Dec's Limitless Win, where he and his daughter Emma won £75,000. The pair impressed viewers as they worked their way through the programme's unique unlimited money ladder.

Throughout his career, Mr Radcliffe played a key role in shaping the educational experiences of young people in Coleraine, earning the respect of colleagues, parents and former pupils alike.

His appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) forms part of the King's Birthday Honours List, which celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their profession, community or public life.

The award acknowledges both his dedication to education and his commitment to serving the local community, where he has remained a familiar and respected figure.

Mr Radcliffe joins a number of people from Northern Ireland recognised in this year's honours for their service and contribution to society.

Congratulating David on the MBE, Councillor Tanya Elder said, "I had the privilege of working alongside David Radcliffe during his time as Chair of the Board of Directors at Harpur’s Hill Family Centre, where I currently serve as a Director.

"David brought wisdom, integrity and a genuine commitment to supporting children, young people and families within our community. Combined with his distinguished career as Principal of Harpur’s Hill Primary School, his contribution to education and community life has been immense. This MBE is a fitting recognition of a lifetime of service, and I am delighted to see David receive this well-deserved honour. My warmest congratulations to him and his family."
