Former Eglinton Hotel in Portrush to be demolished for apartments

Plans to demolish the former Eglinton Hotel in Portrush have been approved, paving the way for a new four-storey apartment complex in the seaside town.
The proposal, submitted by W & R Group Ltd, will see the vacant building at 49 Eglinton Street replaced with nine residential apartments, alongside a ground-floor café and parking facilities.
The development marks a significant change for the property, which has stood empty in recent years.
Originally submitted in 2023, the plans underwent several amendments before receiving final approval, with the latest changes prompting a fresh public advertisement in February 2025.
