Local Full Fibre broadband provider, Fibrus has delivered festive magic to Ballycastle Integrated Primary School after the school’s Primary One class was announced as the winner of the Fibrus ‘Christmas Classroom’ competition.

The children received an unforgettable surprise when Papa Elf and the Fibrus Tinsel Team arrived at their classroom with a sack full of presents for every pupil in the class. Papa Elf, a familiar festive figure who has been spreading Christmas cheer across some of Northern Ireland’s most well-known festive events for over 20 years, arrived in his traditional costume alongside the Fibrus Tinsel Team, who were dressed as Santa’s classic elves to help deliver the gifts.

Adding to the excitement, the children enjoyed a very special video call from Santa Claus himself. Santa congratulated the pupils for being so good and going above and beyond for each other this year, sharing a heartfelt message before Christmas to let them know how proud he was of their kindness and teamwork.

Mrs McCloskey’s Primary One class has been doing lots of work on kindness and learning how to show respect and generosity to those less fortunate than them. This year the class created their own Christmas show, highlighting that the true meaning of Christmas is about sharing, caring and working as a team to make others happy. The special four- and five-year-olds will also be continuing to spread festive cheer this Christmas as they visit a local nursing home in Ballycastle to sing carols with the residents.

Understanding the importance of meaningful connections, especially over the holiday season, Fibrus continues to be a voice for rural communities. By helping to bridge the digital divide with its Full Fibre broadband roll out across rural and regional NI, Fibrus plays a key role in keeping families connected throughout the festive period.

Dominic Kearns, CEO of Fibrus, said: “We are thrilled to bring this magical experience to Ballycastle Integrated Primary School. The dedication and spirit shown by these children and their teacher is inspiring. At Fibrus, community is at the heart of everything we do, and this initiative is about giving back and creating moments that matter. Seeing the joy on the children’s faces reminds us why these connections are so important.”

Mrs Donna McCloskey, Primary One teacher at Ballycastle Integrated Primary School, said: “Our class has worked so hard since September, and this visit was truly magical. The children joined our school this year from not only different pre-school settings, but also from different countries. They have come together to form one happy and caring group, and we are so proud at how they have adapted to school life, which is such a big step for them all.

“This surprise from Fibrus and Santa is a wonderful reward for their efforts and something they will never forget. Thank you so much to Fibrus, who have made Christmas dreams come true.”
