Ferris Wheel And Family Entertainment Features In Updated Dunluce Centre Plans
Jan 27, 2026
A revised layout for redevelopment plans at the former Dunluce Centre in Portrush has been uploaded to the planning portal, outlining a mix of outdoor rides and indoor family entertainment facilities.
The updated plans show a range of outdoor attractions, including a Ferris wheel, a twister ride, children’s bumper cars, a balloon race, a children’s carousel, and a large traditional carousel.
Indoor proposals include a family entertainment centre designed to create additional recreational space for visitors. Facilities listed within the plans include children’s amusements, a soft play area, mini golf, an inflatable park, a bowling alley, an arcade and other amusement attractions. The development would also feature a party room, food court and staff facilities.
The planning application remains under consideration and is still progressing through the planning process.
The Dunluce Centre, once one of the North Coast’s best-known tourist attractions, closed in 2013 after several decades in operation. The site had been a major draw for visitors to Portrush, particularly families, during its peak years.
In April 2024, developer Colm O'Donnell purchased the former Dunluce Centre site for £1.25 million. Since then, proposals have been put forward to reintroduce a large-scale leisure and entertainment offering to the area.
Planning officials will assess the revised layout as part of the ongoing process before any decision is made on the site's future.
