Dog Activity Park Approved At Vale Centre Site
Mar 25, 2026
Planning permission has been approved for the development of an outdoor dog activity park at the Vale Centre in Greysteel.
Members of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Planning Committee agreed the application at a meeting held this morning, granting full permission for the change of use of an existing open green space at Vale Business Park on Clooney Road.
The proposal will see the site transformed into a managed facility designed for dog exercise, socialisation and training. Plans include enclosed activity areas, associated equipment and a small on-site office, with additional features such as solar panels incorporated into the design.
A planning report presented to councillors had recommended approval, noting the development would deliver community and recreational benefits while making use of existing facilities within the Vale Centre grounds. It also highlighted that no objections had been received from consultees or members of the public.
The site, located within an area zoned as major open space under the Northern Area Plan 2016, was considered acceptable on the basis that the proposal would support health, wellbeing and community engagement.
Approval is subject to standard planning conditions, including a requirement for the development to begin within five years.
