Department For Communities Progressing Acquisition Of Former NRC Ballymoney Site

The Department for Communities (DfC) is in the process of acquiring the former Northern Regional College site at 2 Coleraine Road in Ballymoney, Explore Causeway Coast & Glens can reveal.
A spokesperson for Northern Regional College confirmed the college has accepted an offer from the Department for Communities, with the transfer of title now awaited as part of the process.
When contacted regarding the site, a spokesperson for the Department for Communities said:
“The department is continuing to progress work towards the potential purchase and development of the Northern Regional College site in Ballymoney.
“However, any future use will be subject to the department securing business case approval and acquiring the site in the first instance.
“DfC continues to liaise with multiple public bodies to encourage and explore potential future uses for the site.”
The Northern Regional College spokesperson also confirmed the college had no details regarding any future plans for the site.
They added:
“We don't have any details of what their future plans are for the site.”
Commenting on the development, DUP Councillor Darryl Wilson said he welcomed progress surrounding the site and hoped any future use would support Ballymoney and the wider area.
He said there would be strong local interest in seeing the site brought back into use in a way that delivers long-term benefit for the town.
