Danske Bank Eyes Relocation Of Ballymoney Branch As Coleraine Move Looms
Sep 10, 2025
Plans have been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, which could see Danske Bank move its Ballymoney branch to new premises further along the town’s High Street.
The proposals outline the relocation of the branch from 6 High Street to number 12, a building formally occupied by Northern Ireland Hospice. The planning application details a fit-out to provide a new bank branch and office space, including a redesigned shop front.
A separate application has also been lodged for signage associated with the move. This includes Danske Bank branding on an aluminium back panel with illuminated lettering, and a projecting sign to highlight the location of an external cash machine.
The development comes as Danske Bank considers similar changes in Coleraine. Last month, we revealed that the bank has applied for permission to refurbish 33 The Diamond – the former First Trust Bank building, which has been vacant since late 2021.
If approved, the Coleraine site would undergo a significant overhaul, signalling that Danske may be preparing to shift operations there from its existing premises in the town.
A spokesperson for Danske Bank confirmed to us this morning that an official statement is expected in the coming days, following our press query into whether the relocations reflect a wider strategy of downsizing its branch network, or whether other factors are driving the moves.
