A councillor has asked for a detailed report on how street sweeping services are delivered across the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough.

At tomorrow evening’s meeting of the Environmental Services Committee, Councillor Darryl Wilson is expected to raise the matter under Any Other Relevant Business.

The proposal requests that the Director of Environmental Services provide a comprehensive report outlining the current street sweeping arrangements in the borough’s four main towns — Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady and Ballycastle — as well as services in rural areas and villages.

According to the request, the report should set out the current street sweeping schedule for each town, alongside the number of mechanical sweepers in operation in each area and the number of staff assigned to street sweeping duties.

It also seeks details on the routes taken within each town and how those routes and operations are recorded and monitored by the council.

In addition, the report would outline how frequently each route is swept, including the number of times per year each route is scheduled for cleaning.

The request is intended to provide greater clarity around the allocation of resources and the operational coverage of street sweeping services across the borough’s main towns.

Members of the Environmental Services Committee are due to meet tomorrow evening to consider a range of agenda items.
