Public Water Refill Stations

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is to consider a proposal to explore the feasibility of installing publicly accessible water refill stations across the borough.

The Notice of Motion, proposed by Councillor McShane and seconded by Councillor Bateson, recognises the environmental, health and tourism benefits of publicly accessible water refill stations and notes the successful provision of such facilities elsewhere within the borough, including at Rathlin Harbour.

The motion calls on the Council to explore the feasibility of installing publicly accessible water refill stations and to identify potential locations, costs and funding opportunities for their delivery.

It also proposes that a report on the proposal's feasibility be brought before the relevant committee for consideration.

The motion reads :

That this Council recognises the environmental, health and tourism benefits of publicly accessible water refill stations and notes the successful provision of such facilities elsewhere within the borough, including at Rathlin Harbour.  Council therefore agrees to explore the feasibility of installing publicly accessible water refill stations, and to identify potential locations, costs and funding opportunities for their delivery.

Council further agrees that a report on the feasibility of this proposal be brought before the relevant committee for consideration.
