Commercial Workshop Proposed For Limavady Industrial Site

A planning application has been submitted for a new commercial workshop development in Aghanloo, Limavady.

The proposal relates to land to the rear of 22 Windyhill Road and includes the construction of a steel fabrication workshop, storage facilities, office accommodation, and three additional small commercial units.

The application has been brought forward by North West Dry Lining Ltd, a County Derry-based construction subcontractor which has operated for more than 35 years. The company specialises in interior building systems and is seeking to expand into modular metal-framed structures for export to the UK and Ireland. 

Planning documents state the development would support the company’s expansion by providing purpose-built premises tailored to its operations.

The site is located within land zoned for industrial and commercial use under the Northern Area Plan 2016, meaning the principle of development is considered acceptable in planning terms.

Supporting documents highlight that the proposal aligns with regional planning policy, which promotes economic development and job creation in designated employment areas.

If approved, the development is expected to increase the company’s workforce from eight to more than 15 employees.

The plans also include three additional units of around 100 square metres each, intended to support small businesses or start-ups within the industrial estate.

According to the planning statement, the site benefits from existing infrastructure and access arrangements, with no changes proposed to road access or parking provision.

Operational hours are proposed between 08:00 and 17:00, with deliveries taking place during these times. The applicant states there will be no significant external noise or dust associated with the development.

A decision on the application will be made by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in due course.
