Coleraine Business Improvement District (BID) has announced Sandleford Special School, Coleraine, as its official charity partner for 2026.

A cornerstone of the local community, Sandleford School has been supporting children and young people with additional needs for more than 20 years, delivering specialised education and care that makes a lasting difference to pupils and their families.

The year-long partnership will focus on raising vital funds to help the school access essential equipment, services and learning resources. These supports play a crucial role in enhancing educational experiences and improving outcomes for pupils across the school.

The decision was unanimously backed by the Coleraine BID Board, recognising Sandleford School’s long-standing commitment to inclusion, personal development and strong community links.

Robert Wilson, Chairman of Coleraine BID, said: “We are honoured to be able to partner with Sandleford School.

“We have been very impressed with the work that has taken place over the last 20-plus years, and we are committed to doing all we can to strengthen the connection not just between Coleraine town centre businesses and Sandleford, but also to make the school’s incredible work more widely known. This is a wonderful opportunity for the local business community to make a real difference and support Sandleford’s future to integrate at every level.”

Throughout 2026, Coleraine BID will deliver a programme of fundraising initiatives and awareness campaigns, working alongside town centre businesses to support the school’s priorities and help ensure pupils have access to the best possible tools, resources and support services.

Rachel McShane, Headteacher of Sandleford Special School, added: “We are absolutely delighted and over the moon that Coleraine BID have considered us as their charity partner for the year. We look forward to making crucial community connections and raising awareness about the unique and important work we do every day.”
