A modernised Army Reserve Centre has officially reopened on Artillery Road in Coleraine, described as a significant investment in both the Armed Forces and the local community.
Alderman Richard Brown Stewart attended the event alongside the Lord Lieutenant of County Londonderry, Mrs Alison Millar, as well as representatives from 152 North Irish Regiment RLC, 105 Regiment Royal Artillery, and local personnel.
Speaking following the event, Alderman Stewart said:
“I was delighted to attend the re-opening of this excellent facility alongside the Lord Lieutenant and representatives of our Armed Forces. This modernised centre reflects the importance of our Reserve forces and the vital role they play, both at home and overseas.
“This investment not only strengthens our local military presence but also creates new opportunities for people across the Causeway Coast and Glens area to get involved, develop skills, and serve their community and country.”
He also encouraged people in the local area to consider joining the Army Reserve.
“The Army Reserve offers a unique opportunity to gain new skills, travel, stay fit, and earn additional income, all while working around your existing commitments. I would strongly encourage anyone in the Coleraine area who is considering a new challenge to explore what the Reserve has to offer.”
The redevelopment of the centre is intended to support training, recruitment and wider community engagement, as Reserve forces continue their roles both locally and overseas.
