Former members of the Causeway Cycling Club committee met earlier this month following the passing of the club’s chairman, Robert Downes.

Those attending agreed that the club should be reconstituted, with the aim of creating a lasting legacy that reflects Mr Downes’ long-standing commitment to cycling in the Causeway area.

A public meeting will take place upstairs at Johnston’s Bar at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 27 January, where the community will be invited to help shape the club's future.

The committee is encouraging both former members and those who have never been involved with the club to attend, describing the meeting as an opportunity to re-energise Causeway Cycling Club and build a shared vision for its next chapter.

Organisers say a reinvigorated club would be a fitting tribute to Mr Downes, who dedicated many years to promoting cycling and encouraging participation across all ages and abilities.

The meeting will focus on gathering ideas, securing community support and agreeing on a clear plan of action to take the club forward.
