Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Recognised As Official JAM Card Operator
Apr 25, 2025
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is delighted to announce its official recognition as a JAM Card operator—an important step in strengthening its dedication to inclusivity and accessibility for all residents and visitors.
The JAM Card, which stands for Just A Minute, is a discreet and powerful tool that allows individuals with learning difficulties, autism, or communication barriers to signal when they need a little more time or understanding in everyday interactions.
Developed by the NOW Group, the JAM Card initiative has been widely adopted by over 2,500 organisations across Northern Ireland, including key public services, retailers, and transport providers.
Demonstrating its proactive approach to accessibility, the Council’s Museum Services team has already completed JAM Card training. This training complements a wider programme of awareness initiatives focused on visual impairments, autism, and dementia—ensuring staff are well-prepared to offer thoughtful, informed support to all visitors.
The Council encourages local businesses, community groups, and service providers to join the movement by becoming JAM Card-friendly. By taking part, they’ll help foster a more inclusive, understanding community where everyone feels respected and supported.
