Causeway Cast Podcast Draws Global Audience As All Roads Lead To Portrush
Jul 21, 2025
A podcast created to celebrate the return of The Open to Royal Portrush has struck a chord with listeners around the world — amassing over 75,000 listens across its 13-episode run.
Causeway Cast – All Roads Lead to Portrush, hosted by Chris Arthur, followed the build-up to golf’s most prestigious tournament with a compelling mix of local stories, historical insight, and interviews with key voices from across the Causeway Coast.
Funded by Executive Travel NI, the podcast featured conversations with officials from Royal Portrush Golf Club, representatives from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, and local businesses that shared their perspectives on what the return of The Open meant.
A visiting fan from Germany also offered an international perspective on the unique atmosphere and warm welcome of Portrush.
“This wasn’t just a podcast about golf,” said host Chris Arthur. “It was about the pride, preparation and people behind the scenes — from the council to clubhouse corridors, and from shopfronts to shorelines.”
As The Open returned to Portrush for another historic moment, the podcast captured the buzz, community spirit, and cultural importance of the event — offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse of a town on the world stage.
Buoyed by the success of Causeway Cast, Arthur revealed that plans are already underway for a follow-up series focused more broadly on life in the borough.
“We’re now looking at creating a new podcast for the local area — speaking to businesses, locals, artists, and community voices,” he said. “There are so many stories here beyond the fairways, and this is just the beginning of telling them.”
