Ballymoney Pub Could Be Replaced With Apartments
Sep 23, 2025
Plans have been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council to demolish the Bush Tavern on Market Street, Ballymoney, and build five two-bedroom apartments on the site.
The scheme would include parking and amenity space to the rear, with access from a central entrance lobby. Seven parking spaces – including one accessible bay – and cycle storage are proposed.
A planning statement states that the development would provide “much-needed residential accommodation” and reflects nearby schemes on Market Street, Café Lane, and John Street, which extend up to four storeys.
Council planners will now consider the application.
In response to local discussion, owner Craig posted on social media to reassure customers that the bar remains open.
He said it was “business as usual” at the Bush, adding that he is still booking live music into 2026.
Mr Black, who has run the pub for almost 30 years, said he hopes to retire in the future and that planning permission would support a potential sale.
“For now, we are still committed to providing our customers the best service we can. Hope to see you all, as usual, at the Bush,” he wrote.
