24-Unit Social Housing Plan Lodged For Limavady Site
Nov 26, 2025
A planning application has been submitted for a 24-unit social housing development on Edenmore Road in Limavady.
The proposal includes a three-storey apartment block containing 20 units, along with two maisonettes and two semi-detached homes. It represents a redesign of part of a previously approved scheme, increasing the number of homes on this section of the site from eight to 24.
The land, located just east of the Limavady Army Reserve Centre, is already zoned for housing and benefits from earlier permissions for larger residential developments.
According to documents submitted to the council, the scheme would provide a mix of accommodation aimed largely at older residents, with 20 Category 1 “active elderly” apartments and four general-needs homes. The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has identified a significant social housing need in the area.
Access to the site would remain as previously approved, with assessments indicating no major impact on local traffic. Plans include landscaped open space, boundary planting and compliance with drainage and flood-risk requirements.
