Renewal Of Coleraine Showgrounds Redevelopment Approved

A renewed planning application for the redevelopment of Coleraine Showgrounds has been approved at this morning’s planning committee meeting.

The application outlines plans to modernise the stadium, including the demolition of several existing stands and buildings, refurbishment and extension of the Jack Doherty Stand, and the construction of new seated stands aimed at delivering an overall capacity of between 6,000 and 8,000. The proposals also include a new clubhouse, upgraded team changing facilities, commercial space and adjustments to the main pitch.

A community changing hub and 3G training pitch are also planned, alongside improvements to access roads, parking and landscaping. The renewal maintains the outline approval first granted in 2021.

MLA Maurice Bradley said he welcomed the renewal, adding that the development would offer an opportunity to enhance facilities for both supporters and the wider community who use the Showgrounds. He said the updated permission helps ensure that the long-planned redevelopment remains active, giving the club and its partners a platform to continue progressing their vision for a modern, multi-use venue.
