Popular Portstewart Sandwich Company Slabz Set to Open New Coleraine Outlet

An American-influenced sandwich company that has quickly built a loyal following on the north coast is preparing to open its doors in Coleraine Town Centre and recruiting staff ahead of the launch.

Slabz, known for its hearty portions and bold flavours, is expanding from its existing locations on Portstewart’s Promenade and in Pottinger’s Entry in Belfast City Centre, with a new outlet set to open soon in Coleraine.

The business first launched in Portstewart in July 2024, marking the start of what has proved to be a rapid rise for founder Genny Daws, who lives in the seaside town. Inspired by American sandwich culture, Slabz has built a strong reputation for generous fillings and comfort-food classics, quickly becoming a favourite among locals.

Its popularity in Portstewart, combined with a strong response to its Belfast city centre location, has paved the way for the move into Coleraine, adding to the growing mix of independent food operators in the town.

Welcoming the news, Councillor Tanya Elder said the opening and recruitment drive were positive signs for the local economy.

An official opening date has yet to be announced, but anticipation is already building among Slabz fans keen to see the brand arrive in Coleraine.
