A significant tourism development on the Causeway Coast has been given the green light this morning, after councillors approved plans for an expanded holiday complex at Ballylinny Cottages near Bushmills.

The proposal, brought forward by HBP – The Holiday Property Bond – includes the construction of 11 new holiday units in place of previously approved accommodation, as well as extensions to an existing barn-style building to create a new entrance lobby and swimming pool.

An ancillary shed, revised site access points, additional parking and landscaping also form part of the scheme at 7a Causeway Road.

HBP purchased the well-known Ballylinny Holiday Cottages in 2023. The organisation operates a unique model in which bondholders invest in a fund that owns a portfolio of holiday properties, giving them long-term access to affordable, high-quality breaks across all locations.

The units, described as “attractive and sympathetic” to the surrounding landscape, drew no objections from statutory consultees.

The development is expected to bring economic benefits to Bushmills and the wider Causeway Coast, which continues to attract large numbers of visitors each year.
