The Kane family has been farming in Myroe, Limavady, Northern Ireland for over 100 years. Richard (a sixth generation farmer) now works the land at Broglasco Farm, whilst his wife Leona is responsible for the business side of Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil.

Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil, founded by Richard and Leona Kane, began quite by chance one evening in 2009. While preparing dinner, Leona ran out of olive oil, prompting Richard to grab some of their own unfiltered, cold-pressed rapeseed oil. She used it to cook two fillet steaks and make a salad dressingā€”and the results were remarkable. Inspired by that moment, the couple launched their business in 2011.
In 2025, their dedication and innovation were honoured with a visit from The King and Queen, who toured their farm and home. Receiving the Royal seal of approval was a proud milestone, celebrating their commitment to sustainable farming and exceptional single-variety cold-pressed oils.
